21 weeks

Here's the latest picture. I missed the one at 20 weeks; it was a little crazy before I left for RI, and I guess we just forgot.

On the road to Rhode Island

Last week I spent a few short days in Rhode Island, my home during 5 years of graduate school. (And the setting of one of the best shows out there--The Family Guy; see picture!) I did the usual--BBQ burger at the Mews, and lots of Brickley's ice cream. Sadly, I don't think it's the season yet for Dell's lemonade... I also stopped by to visit TJ's grandparents, who live in Newport. The weather was BEAUTIFUL, and it was physically painful to get back on the plane to head back to Ireland, where it's still freezing cold and rainy.

Craftmania!

19 weeks and counting... I've also started a few crafty projects. The first picture is a quilt-to-be (yes, that is my sewing machine; I think it has to be at least a few thousand years old--I could take it into work and carbon-date it to be sure!). The second is a knitted blanket. These should keep me busy during our freezing cold "spring" (it snowed today!).

Denim Rage

The only thing harder (and more traumatic) than trying to find a decent pair of jeans is trying to find a decent pair of maternity jeans. First of all, I'm offended that all maternity clothes are banned to some dingy corner on the top floor of the department store. Also, once you wander through the maze of normal-person clothes and find the maternity section, there are only two pairs of pants and some shirts that look like something on sale at Dress Barn. I spent at least three hours yesterday searching everywhere on the north side of Dublin for one pair of jeans, and came back completely empty-handed. Then I went online to gap.com, found a pair that looked perfect (and came in short sizes--big plus!), but they were no longer available. The only explanation is that God does not want me to wear jeans.

P.S. Ireland, please join the 21st century and get on board with online shopping. Honestly. This is ridiculous.

Pictures!

We've decided to take weekly pictures, so that you guys can check out how big I am! Hopefully this will eventually prove that I'm not just getting fatter and fatter each week... I voted for the shirt-down option, but TJ was against it. I hope that no one is offended by partial nudity. (However, now that I just posted the words "partial nudity", maybe I'll get some hits off google?)

Big plans

TJ here,
Kate let me type a entry on the condition that there are no typos, so this may be the last time you hear from me...
